Original Homestead of Mill Owner and Operator
A Piece of History
Blackburn Fork Creek derived its name from Colonel Blackburn to whom the land was originally granted for his service in the Revolutionary War. The Blackburn Fork has turned many water wheels since the early 1800's, including the historical Cummins Mill. This mill provided ground corn and wheat for the entire community as well as a recreational site for those who spent their Sunday afternoons swimming in the mill pond and visiting the waterfall. While the mill is no longer on site, the inviting beauty and recreational value of the area still prevails. |
